At the point where she is in a dreamscape and the statue's eyes light up, the game halts - goes into a loop trying to find a file under "data". Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the same thing happened again. Pse help.

Me too! Same thing get error can't find path to castle 1 or something like that.

Which version of the game are you running?
on which site have you downloaded the game?

Loaded off of Sandlot, V 1.0.2, used Google Chrome and IE both had the same error in the dream sequence:
Error loading scene castle.day1_room;[error 3]the system cannot find the path specified/chapters/castle/voice/**;not found

as far as we know, Sandlot already has the fix. other partners are getting it as well. the newest version is v.1.0.3

Yeah I got it, played it, finished it, loved it - I MISS these sorts of games.  There's not enough fantasy adventures with gorgeous graphics and music to whisk you away from the hurly burly.
