Hey, thanks for making this forum!

What I'm doing right now: I will put the sprite into a FIFE demo, for that I will simply cut the sprites (via a script which I have to figure out how to write) in single files (as FIFE uses single images for animation frames).

ok.

anyway, I had a brief look at FIFE, is it only tile based or can you have a preloaded bacground to walk on? (cause that's the way it's done in koda)

I'm pretty sure it's no problem to have a one-image background. The engine is tile-based however. Movement is not tile based though.

Video: http://vimeo.com/874014

For some reason leftrightupdown doesn't work in the demo game, though the sprites are there for all 8 directions =) I suppose it was deactivated, but theoretically it must be part of the engine to be able to walk UDRL.

Text in http://forum.freegamedev.net/index.php?t=msg&goto=6346

Say, these sprites you gave to us are from the fight engine no? I thought we were to do something world-map like first =)

Also: Do you think it might make sense to take your fight engine, port it and then use/manipulate it to render the map world?

PS: It would be cool if you gave us a map file (the background texture) to try to do something with next. If you don't want to, tell us which file format it is and wich size and maybe give us then the map file (the one which contains the info about where is a castle and where is an armory etc). Just an idea though.

PPS: Have you had the chance to take a look at the license?

jep, I gave you a unit from the battle engine, they are much better then the ones we used in the map.

The battle engine is veeeery diferent then the map and really makes no sense to use for the map.

Bacgrounds should be 'hidden' as .c2 files. they are actually bmps :)
